Gravity & Levity’s new production Shift sees artistic director Lindsey Butcher leading aerial performance into new territory as contemporary dance, aerial circus and live music collide within a sculptural, transformative environment designed by Mish Weaver.

Planes shift and emerging landscapes unfold before a promenading audience through a series of interlinking pieces choreographed by Charlotte Vincent (Vincent Dance Theatre), Charles Linehan, and Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas (Stomp co-creators) Gravity & Levity continues its ongoing collaboration with associate production director Kevin Finnan, composer Daniel Weaver and joined by performers Scott Smith, Vanessa Cook, Guy Adams and Jennifer Paterson.

A world premiere commissioned by the Liverpool Culture Company for European Capital of Culture 2008.

One Step Forward, One Step Back is a major new site-specific work specially created for Liverpool’s magnificent Anglican Cathedral. Inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy, the piece will respond uniquely to the cathedral's awe-inspiring interior, while also looking out to the city of Liverpool beyond, asking the question: What is Paradise? One Step Forward, One Step Back will weave a magical journey for intimately sized groups through areas of the cathedral previously unseen by the public.
