CiCi Blumstein is an artist whose work seeks out and vibrates in the unknown spaces between body & film, science & performance, architecture & theatre, transforming the physical and personal into a form that others can experience directly. She is a filmmaker, producer, writer/director, choreographer and performer born in Germany, and has been based in the UK since 1989.

CiCi Blumstein's latest project Transfusion, uses red blood cells as her inspiration. By bringing these microscopic elements of the human body to the outside as huge sculptural forms, she wishes to make an immediate link between the audience and the performers, between the interconnecting cycles of human movement and breathing, natural and architectural environments. This creates a feeling of something essential being released from the body - there is an instant emotional recognition, a resonance with the significance and meaning of blood as a site of memory and disease, kinship and loss, and of the vital life processes shared by all human beings.
