dreamthinkspeak was founded in 1999 by Tristan Sharps. The company aims to explore how different environments can radically alter the audience’s relationship to the work. Using both conventional and unconventional theatrical settings, dreamthinkspeak creates performance pieces that are in constant evolution.

Each production is re-created and re-designed afresh for different sites that have their own stories, echoes and architectural features.

In 2005 the company showed the site-specific promenade performance Don't Look Back as part of the British Council Showcase in Edinburgh and Underground at an old abattoir in Clerkenwell as part of BITE:05.

In 2006 dreamthinkspeak began its first international tour with Don't Look Back appearing at Ljubljana's Exodos Festival and at the NET Festival in Moscow, and dates in 2007 have included Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Sibiu, Romania as part of its European Capital of Culture 2007 programme.

dreamthinkspeak’s latest work One Step Forward, One Step Back sees the company return to the UK for the first time in three years. This major new site-specific work has been commissioned by the Liverpool Culture Company as part of Liverpool 08 – European Capital of Culture 2008, taking place at Liverpool’s magnificent Anglican Cathedral.

Inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy, One Step Forward, One Step Back will respond uniquely to the Cathedral’s magnificent interior and will build on the company’s reputation as a master of the genre exploring the visual language of film, installation, models and live performance and interlinking the architecture of this remarkable building with the central themes of Dante and the dramatic landscape of Liverpool itself.
