dreamthinkspeak was founded in 1999 by Tristan Sharps. The company aims to explore how different environments can radically alter the audience’s relationship to the work. Using both conventional and unconventional theatrical settings, dreamthinkspeak creates performance pieces that are in constant evolution. Each production is re-created and re-designed afresh for different sites that have their own stories, echoes and architectural features.

In 2005 the company showed the site-specific promenade performance Don't Look Back as part of the British Council Showcase in Edinburgh. In 2006 dreamthinkspeak began its first international tour with Don't Look Back appearing at Ljubljana's Exodos Festival and at the NET Festival in Moscow; in 2007 in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and in Sibiu Romania as part of its European Capital of Culture programme; and in Perth and Adelaide, Australia in 2008.

In 2005 Underground explored the feverish, oppressive atmosphere and the hallucinatory, nightmarish quality of Dostoyevsky’s world through a highly visual work based on "Crime & Punishment", which interwove performance, film, live imagery, sound and light to create a dynamic relationship with both the audience and the space. Underground was commissioned by and premiered at Brighton Festival in May 2005 and went on to be presented in old abattoir in Clerkenwell London as part of BITE:05.

One Step Forward, One Step Back was commissioned in 2008 by the Liverpool Culture Company as part of Liverpool 08, and specially created for Liverpool’s magnificent Anglican Cathedral. The piece explored our increasingly secularised world of global economy, where regeneration can lead to development and destruction in equal measure. Inspired by Paradiso, the third section of Dante’s Divine Comedy, and by Blake’s poem Milton, the production responded uniquely to the cathedral’s awe-inspiring interior, whilst looking externally to the city beyond, asking the question: What is Paradise?
