Time and Tide wait for no man
Neptune:
Fate and fortune
roll like the seas.
I am King Neptune.
I have the Key.
Time:
The pendulum swings
with reason and rhyme.
I am Old Father Time.
I have the Clock.
Neptune:
Step up to this box
and unpick the locks.
Time:
Let’s see your ticket
for it too is a key
and with it
we’ll cross the seaside
far and wide
and let you journey
and seek and hide.
Neptune:
For time and tide
wait for no man.
Open this casket
and insert your hand.
Time:
Take your pick.
This lucky dip
will pave your path.
Neptune:
Take spider or seahorse,
bat or buccaneer.
Time:
Your journey ahead
as yet unclear.
Neptune:
Your voyage of discovery
will take many turns.
Time:
But enjoy every second
as the plots are stirred up
and the storyline churns.
Neptune:
Please take this map.
It will keep you on track.
The seas and oceans
like human emotions
are never idle:
always tidal.
Time:
The rolling stock
like a ticking clock
is a coiled spring.
This train like a brain
with so much potential
like a quick-witted mind
in which we’ll find
ideas exponential.
Neptune:
Let’s wait awhile.
Immobile.
We may see
a crocodile
or a fish or two
if you care to look
you may bait the hook,
the trap or snare.
Time:
Keep your eyes
wide open.
Be prepared
and well aware.
We’re looking for sleuths
to seek the truth.
