Sura Medura – UK

 ARTIST RESIDENCIES IN SRI LANKA

Sura Medura is an International Artist Residency centre in Hikkaduwa, South West Sri Lanka. It was established in 2011 and offers opportunities for Artists working in Outdoor Arts.

ArtsAgenda is the Project-Coordinator, responsible for the recruitment process, network partnerships and as Coach to the selected residents.

For this project a partnership of 7 organisations, committed to the development and support of artists, have received funding from Arts Council England to create a development programme. The key part of which is a 6 week residency at Sura Medura, alongside mentoring and coaching.

Artists from all disciplines are invited to submit proposals to create work that is enchanted by being developed in Sri Lanka. Selected artists are offered coaching, mentorship and opportunities to meet with their peers in the Sri Lankan arts community. They are also opportunities to present the resulting work in Sri Lanka, England and Scotland.

For this programme applications from artists are solicited through our network, but there are opportunities & call outs for artists based in Scotland. See Sura Medura for updates.

As well as developing the programme together with UZ Arts, ArtsAgenda ltd, is project managing this 3 year programme, and providing personal & professional development to the selected artists through Coaching before, during and after the residency.

The Artists to date are:
